Summer Days

This summer sure is fun! So far I've done swim lessons (that's me in the water with my teacher)

That's me floating on my back:

And that's me showing off my kicking skills

And here I am jumping in the water by myself!

I also went to Vacation Bible School at our church. The theme was Operation Overboard and my favorite song I learned was "Yellow Submarine."

Friday was the Decatur Beach Party where they bring in tons of sand for us kids to play with and have all sorts of games.

Logan got into some of the games

And then he really GOT INTO the game.

Mommy was way better at hula hooping, but I gave it a shot.

Then we had Father's Day- here I am helping Daddy open his present. It was a gift certificate for beer. Always a winner.

We've spent a lot of time at playgrounds

And on playdates

And just running errands with Mommy. This cart looks pretty full and we hadn't even started shopping!

And the rest of the time we spend just hanging out with each other.

Happy Birthday to Quinn!

Guess what?

Quinn is 4!
He had a great birthday yesterday. At breakfast he got to open lots of great presents from great people who love him.

He kept saying "Whoa!"

He got lots of camping gear from Grandma and Grandpa Steve. I hope he and Daddy will take me camping with them sometime!

I sat back and enjoyed Quinn's birthday muffins that he was too busy to eat.

The biggest present was this superhero hideout Mommy and Daddy made from some old cardboard.

There's a little house in the front (Park Manor) with a mailbox

Quinn checked his mail this morning and found lots of cards to help him celebrate his birthday.

A secret door in the house leads to a superhero hideout!

with festive lighting, even.

There are bookshelves for Quinn's Batman and Superman and Spider-man toys and books and even a closet to hide his superhero costumes.

Our favorite part might be this nice fireplace...

that opens to reveal an escape tunnel we can crawl out of if our super powers are needed in a hurry.

This tunnel has seen lots of action already.

Here's a video of our hideout in action.
The windows are pretty fun, too.

After breakfast, we went downtown to the Children's Museum. Thanks to Great-Grandma Maggie, we have a year's membership and we get to go back any time we want! (Sorry about the bad pictures, Mommy only had her phone with us.)

Quinn ran around and around trying out all the exhibits. I was entranced by the ball contraption. That's me in the middle in the blue and white striped outfit.

Quinn figured out how to work the crane. I carried a ball around all morning.

Boys always like a good train set.

We each tried out the tractor.

Here's Quinn at the Children's Museum now and back when he was not quite two. He sure has changed! I barely recognize my big brother.

After we got back, Quinn got to open some MORE presents! These were from Mommy and Daddy.

This pirate book has already been read a few times.

And a Spider-Man watch. Did you know Quinn is obsessed with knowing what time it is?

His other current obsession is knights. So he was pretty pleased with this knight costume. It came with a sword and a shield.

And a bow and arrow. The bow is a little hard to work, but the arrows are fun.
Next on our busy agenda was Quinn's first swim lesson. (Again, sorry for the bad phone picture.)

Quinn sort of had a meltdown at the beginning of class, but he did really well and was actually smiling by the end! Thanks, Grandpa George for the swim lessons!

After swimming, Quinn opened this awesome Batcave toy from Uncle B and Aunt Elissha.

He put Daddy straight to work putting it together.

Thanks to everybody who made Quinn's birthday so great!

The End
