Happy Campers

Last Friday was a big day for me! I got to do two big things I hadn't done before. First, I went to the zoo! I might have been to the zoo when I was a baby, but I haven't been since I can remember. In the morning, Mommy told me we were going to the zoo and my first question was, "Oo oo eat my pants?" Mommy said, "No, the monkey probably won't eat your pants." And I said, "Ok, thanks Mommy." I'm very polite. And apparently concerned monkeys will eat my clothes. My next question was whether they would take my underwear.

I was so excited to see all the animals, I couldn't believe I was actually seeing them in person!

We went to the zoo with my friend, Micah. It was one of the first times I got to play with a friend without Quinn around, so Micah and I got to be the big kids.

We saw elephants, giraffes, zebras...

meerkats, tortoises, ostriches, lions, gorillas, orangutans (and nobody took my pants!)

And I saw a really big lizard up really close.

I shared my stroller with my buddy

And he shared a train ride with me!

And I got to ride a leopard! Well, it was on the merry-go-round, but it still went pretty fast!

We wrapped up our trip with a visit to the playground

I think I'm a pretty big fan of the zoo!

When we got home from the zoo, we picked up Daddy from work, picked up Quinn from school, and packed up the car to go camping! This was my first camping trip and I had no idea what to expect. We drove up north to Vogel State Park. It's at the foot of the mountains and has a lake, hiking trails, a playground, and even a miniature golf course. When we got there, Quinn and I helped set up camp.

And checked out the tent.

And admired the fire.

And checked out the tent again.

After hot dogs over the fire, we roasted marshmallows and had some yummy smores.

That night, we didn't get all that much sleep. Mainly because of me :) I was so excited to be in a tent and with my whole family I was just too wound up to sleep. Daddy had to come and sleep in between me and Quinn. So then I tickled Daddy for about 30 minutes. Nonstop. When I finally did sleep, I ended up out of my sleeping bag on the hard ground. And didn't even care. In the morning, the weather was beautiful and we went for a hike around the lake. We checked out the waterfalls at the far end of the lake and made it all the way back around.

After we packed everything up, we hit the beach. I mostly played with the sand.

And Quinn swam out to the barrier (with his lifevest).

We only stayed one night since we weren't sure how I would do, but one night was probably enough for now. We had a great time and made some lovely family memories!

We had a roaring good time! (This is my dinosaur impression. I like to roar really loudly.)

First Day of Kindergarten and Potty Time

It's my first day of Kindergarten!
I've been so excited about starting my new school- can you tell?

Just kidding- I AM excited, it was just a little early this morning. My new school starts at 8:00, so it's a little earlier than we're used to getting out of the house.

Here I am all ready to go!

I wouldn't let Mommy take a picture at school, so this is the best she got- I'm hanging my backpack up.

And here's my teacher, Mrs. Houston, welcoming me to class. I think she's pretty awesome already.

I gave Mommy a hug, turned around and went straight into my room, so that was pretty cool. I'll give you an update after school to tell you how the rest of the day went!

In other news, this little guy is diaper free! (and mostly pants free these days)

He's potty training!

He's doing a pretty darn good job, too!

Here are all his potty stickers

And since I help him and encourage him, I get potty stickers too. Then Daddy thought it would be funny to make Mommy and Daddy sticker charts too. Daddy's hilarious like that.

Bye for now from two rapidly growing up boys!!
