I'm 3!

It's official....I'm 3!

When Quinn asked what kind of party I wanted for my birthday, I said a pirate party!

I was so excited about my birthday party- all my friends were going to come and even my cousin Owen! Aunt Debi, Julia and Cousin Owen came all the way from South Carolina to celebrate with me. I loved playing with Owen at Thanksgiving so I invited him to my party. We had so much fun hanging out with them. Owen (and Aunt Debi) played with my toys, we went to the aquarium in the morning and came back home for the party.

We set up the party outside on the big deck in our complex.

We brought out all our pirate toys, pirate books and pirate puzzles.

Mommy made me a special pirate birthday shirt.

We made pirate eyepatches and scarves for our friends to wear.

My special present from Mommy and Daddy was a pirate ship that we could all play with and color.

We had a walk the plank game where we had to keep our balance over the choppy water. There were sharks and crocodiles in the water so we had to make sure not to fall in.

This was our "beach" to dig for buried treasure.

Violet really got into it.

We also decorated pirate spyglasses.

And played pin the doubloon in the treasure chest.

Pretty sure Quinn was peeking...

Mommy made me a Jake and the Pirates cake. We already had these cool toys and we just put them on top of the cake.

After the cake, we used our spyglasses to look for X's that the big kids had hidden for us little guys.

One X marked the spot where the treasure chest was hidden. Inside were our party favors- Jake coloring books and crayons and gold (chocolate) doubloons.

It was definitely a fun party and it was so cool to celebrate being three with all my friends.

After all that fun, Sunday was my actual birthday!

My special treat was to go out for frozen yogurt after dinner. I put lots of gummy bears on mine.

Quinn liked his, too.

Then to go to bed I got into my new Jake the Pirate pjs, underwear and even a Jake band-aid!

Happy Birthday to me!

Kickin' It!

So here's what we've been up to lately...

I started taking tae kwon do lessons. I got interested in martial arts because of my love of ninjas. Here I am on my first day.

And Logan wanted in on the picture.

Right now I'm learning the basic blocks and kicks. I also learned how to count from 1 to 10 in Korean. And I get to yell loudly (when I'm supposed to).

Logan and Mommy got to have a special doughnut date.

My friend Liam had a cool magic birthday party. We saw a magic show and got to take home awesome hats and magic wands. I use mine to change Mommy into a zombie and back again.

And we had more snow! This time it was mostly ice and not much fun to play in. But you can't say we didn't try!

We got to play with our neighbors a lot when we were snowed in. We could play with them since we didn't have to drive anywhere! On this day, we decided to start a band.

A marching band, no less!

One day my school was cancelled because of snow but Mommy's wasn't, so I got to go to school with her and guess who I played with!

I'm really into Legos right now. Here is an award Mommy presented to me (under a bit of pressure from yours truly) for being "an AWESOME LEGO builder."

And here's a rocket I built and entered into the Lego Jr. Magazine contest. If my rocket appears in next month's magazine, I will be sure to let you know.

We've also been busy building with Logan's tool bench that he got for Christmas.

It's serious work.

Last Friday was Valentine's Day and we had a lovely family day loving on each other. Mommy made us pink heart-shaped pancakes. After all our snow days, we got to go back to school Friday.

We all went out to dinner and came back home for ice cream.

Just some brotherly love...

Until Daddy tackles us.

Happy February everybody!

Let It Snow!

We've had a few pretty fun days here lately. It actually snowed in Atlanta! While Quinn went to school yesterday, Mommy and I stayed in our pj's all day and when the snow started around lunchtime, we checked out our deck.

It was just starting to come down. I said, "It's white!" This was my first snow. I was excited about it.

By the time Quinn came home from school there was way more snow on the ground and we went out to play in it.

It was too powdery to make good snowballs and not really deep enough to make snow angels, but we gave it our all.

I was just happy to be there!

Then on top of that, I discovered that I could dig in it and I was happy as a clam. I'm a big fan of digging.

Our big dream was to make a snowman. We worked really really hard to make this snowman (Mommy may have worked the hardest). He's pretty cool, right? I got the raisins for his eyes and mouth and since we didn't have any carrots, Quinn had the great idea of using a tomato. Pretty impressive...

until you see how big he actually was. But hey, it took all the snow we had!

More digging...

And then we went inside for hot chocolate!

Mommy's favorite part of any cold day.

So today Quinn had no school and it's a pretty good thing since the roads mostly looked like this- a dusting of snow over a sheet of ice. Not good for driving, but pretty good for playing.

Our neighbors were all out hanging in the snow. Nobody stayed out for long, though. It was really cold.

And we tried really hard to have a snowball fight, but the snow just wasn't cooperating.

I was just happy to dig.

Stay warm, y'all!
